Francis Augusto (b. 1993) is an Angolan-born artist. His practice delves into the human experience, adopting an observational approach to image-making. Augusto’s background as a refugee fleeing the civil war and his sociology degree greatly influenced his work. Drawing from social theory, he operates at the intersection of social research, documentary, and art practice. Exploring the themes of self, mundanity, and interaction, his works invite the viewer into the frame. His recent major work, Songs of Love & Loss, examines the complexities of romantic relationships. He is a winner of the British Journal of Photography's Portrait of Britain award and a 2023 grantee of Arts Council England project grants. This social documentary approach to image-making is visible in his commercial and editorial work for Fuji, Nike, and Bloomberg.

Francis is also available for lecturing, mentoring & critiquing opportunities.
